This is the class of 2019-2020 we are reciting prayers to start the class.
Kannada Kali is a school started to keep the language culture of Kannada alive. The class was founded by Srinivas Nandakumar and Sheshagiri Rao in an effort to teach kids the this rich Indian language. Kannada is one of the Indian languages believed to be originated directly from Sanskrit the oldest Indian language to this date. Kannada holds the history of the ancient Indian people and therefore is very important to learn. The class started in 2016 in a one room classroom in Carmel Valley Recreational Center with 17 students and 2 teachers. There were only two levels, the class for students under 9 years and the class for students over 9 years. Both classes were only separated by a thin divider. How far this noble initiative has come now, reaching 52 students and 6 teachers and even more parent volunteers helping, learning, and teaching kannada as a community. Grades 1-6, teaching kids of all levels and even having textbooks. These days the classes are held virtually and once we have the school district approval the class will be held at the MPR of Canyon View Elementary School with 6 sections of students.Â
